Training Unlimited Animal Actors Rules and Regulations for the safety of our animals and all involved.
To prevent any misunderstandings or misconceptions, Training Unlimited sets the following parameters and stipulations:
1) There will always be one trainer per animal, unless otherwise noted. If there is to be just one animal for the production there will be two trainers. This is required to insure that all production needs are professionally executed.
2. We prefer that production personnel don't interact with our animals on set unless that person is to perform in a scene with the animal. Once the animal is wrapped, production personnel are free to interact with the animal, provided it is cleared with the animal's handler.
3. No animal will be placed on hold on set for longer than 15 minutes prior to a performance.
4. Our animals "green room" must be in a temperature controlled area, without lots of commotion.
5. The Lead Trainer is on set from call time to wrap. (Sometimes an Assistant Trainer will also be on set from call time to wrap.) Assistant trainers come and go with their animal charges, according to the animal's call and wrap times.
6. No animal will remain on set longer than 4 hours. Animals tire easily and when tired, often become stressed. Allowing the animal to return to the safety of it's "green room" enhances the animal's overall performance. Once it has rested it can return to performing on set.
7. If a trainer believes an animal to be anxious or stressed, he/she will pull them off set immediately. This is to insure the safety of all involved, including the well-being of the animal.
8. If a producer believes that a production will run longer than 6 hours, a back-up animal is suggested to insure that all scenes are filmed as needed.
9. Any animal on location longer than 8 hours goes into overtime charges. (costs vary according to the animal being used)
10. Any trainer on location longer than 8 hours goes into overtime charges. ($85/hr for Lead trainer and $65/hr for Assistant trainers)
