The Perfect Companion Program
Do you want to have a dog or cat but lack the time to raise and train it?
Are you unsure of how to choose the right pet for your family and household?
Do you have a pet who needs a companion?
This program is perfect!
Do it the right way from the start. Not only will you have the perfect companion, but your home will still be intact, your family less stressed and everyone can enjoy your new family member instead of being watchful, wary or having to adjust your lifestyle to suit the pet.
Face it, puppies are cute, but they are lots of work. You have to let them out every hour to two during the housetraining process. Watch them carefully to insure they don't chew up your furnishings or get into the garbage. Then there are developmental issues to deal with such as fear imprint periods, socialization, adolescence and lack of manners. The Perfect Companion program allows you to bypass the headache of pet ownership and skip directly to enjoyment of the pet.
Kittens are fun to watch, but they can also be highly destructive. Not only will they race around, knocking over lamps and nic-nacs, but also bite and scratch, causing painful injuries to you. A well raised, social and trained cat is a joy to have. A trained cat will use only the appropriate scratching surfaces, use her litterbox, perform on cue (come, sit, stay and more) and be able to travel with you, should you wish.
If you have children, this is the ideal way to get a pet!
Here is how it works:
1. Miriam Fields-Babineau will begin with discovering what you want in a pet and the breeds you would prefer.
2. The Great Puppy Quest then begins as she visits and temperament tests all candidates available within the region. If you prefer to adopt a dog/cat, shelters, humane societies and rescue groups will be visited and the animal temperament tested.
3. Once found, she will send you photographs and information about the pup's parents, if available.
4. The puppy or adoptable pet is purchased* (you do so directly to the organization holding the animal). Miriam picks up the animal and brings it to Shady Mountain Pet Retreat to raise and train.
* We do our best to insure the animal is from a high quality breeder, or in great health if adopted, but can not insure that he/she is free of hereditary ailments.
The average training period lasts 4 months*. This is important as the pet learns how to behave inside and out, how to socialize with other animals, accept handling of all types (veterinarian, grooming), goes on field trips to work in public and will learn how to perform obedience cues both on and off leash.
*Should your goals be other than to merely have the perfect pet training may take longer.
If you are within a 2 hour radius, Miriam can bring the pet to your home as often as once each week to acclimate to your location, family and other pets if you have them. It is important that your new pet learn about you and where he/she will eventually be living in order to make a smoother the transition from the pet retreat to your home.
When the training and raising, if needed, is complete Miriam will bring the dog to your home and help you integrate him/her into your environment. You will receive training/handling lessons to insure that you communicate effectively with your new pet.
At the end of this process you will have the Perfect Companion. A well trained, well mannered, well socialized and healthy pet who will fit into your family perfectly.
